Some Issues About Transliteration in Atebetü’l-Hakayik’s Semerkant Publication

Abstract

In this study, some issues of transliteration will be discussed in the Uighur-lettered Samarkand copy of Atebetü'l-Hakayık, a work belonging to the Islamic period. In the study, based on the Samarkand copy of Atebetü'l-Hakayık, different spelling features that appear in the reading of Reşit Rahmeti Arat and the reading made by me will be determined. These differences will be evaluated in two different groups as vowels and consonants. For this, both the text given by Arat and the footnotes were used. The second reading was made by me, completely independent of Arat, considering only the copy. The first example given was taken from the publication "Atebetü'l- Hakayık" by Reşit Rahmeti Arat. The example in the second part is the form of the word that is thought to be spelling. Next to the examples given, the copy of the word, the number of pages, couplets and line numbers are added respectively. Examples for all vowels were determined, and for consonants, only examples of /t/, /d /, /s /, /z/ consonants were found. I believe that this study will provide a different perspective to researchers who have studied or will do studies on Uyghur lettered texts.
