Abstract

This study addresses the historical development of the Bengal region, current Bangladesh and the West Bengal province of India, and Bengali, the language of the people living in this region. Since Bangladesh, which gained independence in 1971, emerged as a country very late, the region's ancient history has remained almost neglected. In this study, we tried to show that the Bengal region has a very rich civilization.
